Description
An exquisitely designed conundrum: A pristine olive green, white polka-dotted enameled cast iron saucepan, with a hollow metal handle (like Descoware) with no branding, no cover, no hints of origin, no hints of age. Searching for this vessel online, I could only find cognates in Descoware, and Le Creuset from a functional design standpoint. And in terms of design motifs, it could be Scandinavian a la Cathrineholm, or Japanese. A beautiful and functional object of design. The saucepan measures about 8 inches in diameter on top, 6.75 inches on the bottom where there is a black enamel surface, 3.5 inches tall. The strong, but hollow iron handle is 4.5 inches long by 1 inch in diameter. the pot is 13.25 inches in total length from end of handle across the top. Heavy grade, it weighs almost 3 pounds. The pot does not appear to have been used--the inside has some tiny lines--which may be manufacturers flaws, but otherwise is white and clean, the cook bottom is clean.
